Slow Down
Jump into this charming life sim as a tavern keeper enjoying the quiet life on the outskirts of a small town. There is plenty to do and it doesn’t take long to slip into a relaxing routine: feed and pet the animals, tend the crops, cook a variety of recipes, check the kegs, gather supplies, chat with the local shop owners, and decorate your inn. To make your time even more relaxing, hire staff to help you run the inn while you jam to whimsical medieval music and do other activities.
There are really no time constraints to follow except for making sure to be in bed before 3am. The only repercussion for staying awake past 3am is that you will wake up at 11am instead of 6am to start the day.
Go Your Own Way
There are multiple customizations you can choose each day in Travellers Rest. Here are some examples:
- Character customization can be done at any time, as long as you have a closet. You can craft a closet after purchasing the recipe from Woody in town.
- Cooking and brewing recipes can be tweaked by changing the ingredients used.
- Change the wall and flooring in the tavern using the construction table provided from Woody.
- Craft different furniture and decor items, or purchase items from the NPCs in town.
- Decorate your own bedroom, dining room, crafting areas, exterior of the tavern, and the inn rooms where guests can stay in the upstairs of your tavern.
Pet The Kitty
Chickens, cows, sheep, and pigs can be raised for use in cooking recipes. You have the choice to slaughter them, and while doing so is sad, it is not graphic or scary. If you don’t like the idea of slaughtering your animals, that’s okay! You can purchase any meat needed in town. If you don’t want any livestock animals at all, you can choose to purchase milk and eggs from NPCs as well.
A strange crow man sells parrot eggs on Wednesday and Thursday after 19:00 in the forest to the south east of the tavern. You can keep the egg in your inventory until it hatches. You will then need a perch and some crackers to set the little fellow up in your dining room.
Pet fish that come in their own individual bowls can be received in exchange for Wilson seals. Wilson seals can be obtained by gather trash items such as boots and underpants and putting them in the trash container inside Wilson’s beach house. The beach can be found to the south past the Harvest Hill family farm.
The developers of Travellers Rest released an update on May 22, 2025 bringing so many new animals to the game. There is a new quest line involving an animal shelter that allows you to adopt more animals. Players can now adopt a dog, which can be interacted with, and many other small animals that live in cages.
Play With Friends
Travellers rest has the option to play with one other person locally or up to four people online.
Still Brewing
Like some other games cherished by the cozy gaming community, Travellers Rest started as a passion project created by a single person. The development team has grown since then and the charm of the game has grown with it. Travellers Rest is still in early access, which means more cool and cozy features will be added down the road.
